As he drools at her over the
tiny cocktail table
Trying to pretend this is a date
Which it isn't
She briefly excuses herself
Wrapping her coat around her thin bones
To have a cigarette under the canopy
With short sharp puffs
Talking to no one
Meeting no one's eyes
To take the taste of the last one
Out of her mouth
Before the next one arrives
